Can low back pain be a symptom of Covid-19?

Body aches and pain are among the most commonly reported COVID-19 symptoms. Although low back pain is not specifically listed as a symptom of COVID-19 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if accompanied by headaches, fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other general muscle aches, it may indicate a COVID-19 infection.

Back pain related to COVID-19 has been described as “deep” pain that feels different from overexertion and is less likely to be eased by changing your posture. Back pain often appears in the early stages of the disease due to the body’s inflammatory response but can also persist for weeks or months after infection. Lasting back pain symptoms might be explained by deconditioned muscles, reduced physical activity, and increased sedentary time and/or prolonged periods of bed rest.
